If you find that the price listed in your catalog is showing the taxes included with the base price, you are able to change this to show only the base price of the product listed.

In the Virtuemart Backend Administration, go to: Shopper ->List Shopper Groups -> [Group Name]. The individual group has a check box that asks whether to 'Show Prices including tax?' Uncheck this option and the price listed will not include the tax.
